□ The government and the World Jamboree Organizing
Committee announced that the Scouts who have been moved
to accommodations in Seoul and seven other cities and
provinces as Typhoon Khanun approached will continue their
Jamboree journey by participating in cultural and hands-on
experience programs in each of the different locations from
today.
□ Programs for diverse hands-on experiences linked to K-culture,
the natural environment and on-site visits to cutting-edge
industries have now been prepared, and these programs will
be operated in a manner that maximizes the Jamboree spirit
of new experiences, adventures and exchanges.○ In Seoul, from today (Aug. 9) to Sunday (Aug. 13), a
“Jamboree Community Plaza” will be up and running in
Seoul Plaza by City Hall to allow the Scouts staying in the
capital to continue their exchanges.
○ From 19:00 p.m, “Dance Night at the Hangang” will be held at
the Mulbit Square stage in Yeouido Hangang Park with
various programs such as deejaying, breakdancing and K-pop
performances.
○ At Daecheon Beach in Chungcheongnam-do, there will be a
“Mud Mob-scene” festival where visitors can cool off from the
scorching heat while being sprayed with water as they play in
tidal-flat mud. In Sunchang, Jeollabuk-do Province, the Scouts
will get hands-deep into Korean culture by making gochujang,
a red chili paste.
○ The City of Incheon has helped by preparing on-site
experiences at high-tech biohealth industries via visits to
businesses like Samsung Biologics and Celltrion, along with a
tour of the city.
○ The government will dispatch officials to each city, county and
district where the Scouts are staying to ensure that the
programs prepared run as planned through daily on-siteinspections, including making progress checks and identifying
inconveniences.
○ Each local government will carry out regional culture and
experience programs in consultation with the Scouts, but
safety will be regarded as the top priority due to Typhoon
Khanun.
□ Minister of Gender Equality and Family Kim Hyunsook said,
“We will work together with local governments everyday to
check the current status of these hands-on experience
programs, so the Scouts can spend their time remaining doing
something meaningful that refreshes their bodies and minds.”
