Temporary Jamboree Press Center to Be Set Up in KOCIS Center, Seoul, from Afternoon of Aug. 8 to Facilitate Newsgathering Activities

□ The government of the Republic of Korea and the
World Jamboree Organizing Committee have decided to
set up and operate a temporary press center in Seoul
to support efficient domestic and foreign media
coverage of the 25th World Scout Jamboree as the
Scouts are to evacuate from their Saemangeum campsite
due to Typhoon Khanun’s expected landfall in Korea.
□ The temporary press center is to be set up at the
KOCIS Center (former Foreign Press Center Korea)
located on the 10th floor of the Korea Press Center
Building* near City Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul. This
temporary press center will go into operation from the
afternoon of August 8 to August 12.
*124 Sejong-daero, Jung-gu, Seoul□ Designed to support foreign journalists in Korea, the
KOCIS Center has been operated since 2013 by the
Korean Culture and Information Service, an affiliate of
the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
□ The World Scout Jamboree Press Center, which is
currently being operated within the Saemangeum New
and Renewable Energy Theme Park, has provided
assistance to facilitate the newsgathering activities of
around 600 domestic and foreign journalists, including
regular daily press briefings since August 1 when the
Jamboree began.
